For over 40 million Americans, a RV is a home away from home. For thousands of others, it is their only home.
You want to have the most comfortable cushions possible. This includes mattresses, driving seats, and of course, dinettes.
The dinette cushions that came with your RV may not be very good. The foam may sag and have thickness irregularities from usage.
Good quality cushions are expensive. Manufacturers try to cut down costs by using lower-quality materials. So, most of these will last less than a year and would need to be replaced.
Here, we’ve listed new cushions you can buy immediately off Amazon, as well as foam and slipcover options. All of which can be used as RV cushions for RV dinettes.
RV Dinette Cushions
Cushions that are specifically made for RV dinettes are uncommon, but they are guaranteed to be the best fit.

These cushions come in a set of two, and would fit well into any dinette. They are made from memory foam and vinyl, and come in four colors. They’re also rather easy to clean with a washcloth.

Foam and Slip Covers
If you prefer a rectangular cushion that fits your seating exactly, you can buy the foam and the covers separately.
Mybecca Upholstery Foam Cushion, Replacements, and Padding
This Mybecca foam is 4 inches high and is firm, making it very comfortable. It’s sold in a 24″ x 72″ size, but you can cut it or order a custom size to fit your seating area.
The firmness allows for a little give, so it’s likely to last for years. However, if you prefer softer cushions it may not be comfortable for you.
This foam is not water-proof, so it’s recommended to get a water-proof cover to ensure it’s protected from any spills.
The Good
- 4 inch thick cushion
- Firm and long-lasting
The Bad
- May be too hard for some people
FoamTouch Upholstery Foam 24″ x 72″
FoamTouch has several varieties for thickness. It comes in two variations for firmness depending on your preference.
The foam has a give of about 1 inch. It’s soft and easy to cut. Note that even the “high density” option is likely to be soft.
Some consumers note a chemical smell from the foam, but it’s easy enough to let it air out before use.
The Good
- Several height variations
- Soft feeling
The Bad
- The high density option is not firm
- May have a chemical smell. Air out before use
Milliard Upholstery Foam, 24″ x 72″
If you’re picky about the height of your cushions, Milliard foam comes in variations of 2,3,4,5 and 6 inches! Milliard foam has an even mix of firmness and softness, making it comfortable for most people.
Note that these might be a bit expensive, especially for higher variations.

- Not water-proof
What to Look for in New Cushions
It’s uncommon to find cushions specifically made for RV dinettes. Most manufacturers make generic cushions in sizes that can be used for all types of furniture.
Sizing
Measure your old cushions while they’re still inside their covers. If they’re oddly shaped, measure them from all sides to get an average size. You can also measure the seating and add an extra 1/2 an inch to that.
Cushions are often sold in even-numbered sets of square cushions. If you prefer long rectangular cuchions, you can buy the stuffing and the cover separately. This is also helpful if you just need to replace the stuffing, or if you like to have several covers.
If you buy stuffing that happens to be too large, use an electric knife to cut the excess material cleanly.
Consider getting a roll of dacron to fill the empty crevices around the foam. This gives your cushion a plumb, full appearance and helps protect the foam.
Material
Firm memory foam is the best material. It changes shape to accomodate the weight, then reverts back to its original shape.
Make sure that the cushions have enough thickness. 2 or more inches should be comfortable to most users. Cushions that are 2 inch or less may sink too much with the weight, making them uncomfortable. Rarely, a cushion may be thin, but dense enough to withstand the weight.
If you do go with memory foam (which we recommend), you may find that it was tightly wrapped for shipping. Remove the wrapping immediately and let the foam air out for a while until it reverts back to its original shape.
Slip-Proof
Dinette cushions are notorious for slipping. Look for textured materials that can create enough resistance to keep the cushion in place. You can also attach velcro tags for better stability.
Some cushions are slippery, but come with strings that you can tie to the chair. The problem is that most dinettes don’t have anything that you an tie them to, so it’s not very useful in this case.
If you’re buying the stuffing and covers separately, keep an eye out for textured covers.
Cleaning
Look for covers that are machine-washable. You can also invest in water-proof covers which tend to be more durable, but also more expensive.
Cushions that aren’t machine-washable can be cleaned with a damp piece of cloth. If you aren’t prone to spills and splashes, this may not be a problem.
Wrap Up
Buying new cushions is fast and simple. It will guarantee that your RV dinette is in tip-top shape with little effort. There are plenty of styles and sizes to choose from, so you’re sure to find something that makes your RV homey.
Whether you choose pre-made dinette cushions or DIY memory foam seats, your tiny house on wheels can feel comfortable and inviting.
Happy travels!
