Living in a RV means space is at a premium. Dishes, kitchen appliances, cups and mugs, all of these can take up much of the precious space in your RV’s kitchen.
Since living in our RV full-time, we’ve picked up a few tips and tricks when it comes to the best dishes for RV camping. We pay special attention to those which are the best space-savers, the most functional, and the most robust for life on the road.
Here are our top favorites for RV camping (and full time living)!
#1. Stojo Collapsible Mug
Stojo collapsible mugs are awesome. Earlier this year we were gifted two of these cups, and they’ve since been one of the greatest, most functional items in our RV.
These mugs are made of food-grade silicone, so they are quiet soft- they need to be in order to collapse down to their most compact size! And they are available in four sizes: 8 oz, 12 oz, 16 oz, or 24 oz.
A couple things to be aware of before pouring in some hot coffee: Due to how soft these mugs are, it’s important to use the cup cover (which is included). Make sure to put the white cover on before pouring in any beverage- especially any hot drinks!- it’s far too easy to squeeze and spill contents without the hard, protective cover.
Overall, Stojo collapsible mugs are a boon to any RVer- they’re easy to clean, easy to travel, are difficult to break, and are unbelievably compact, saving a lot of space in kitchen cabinets!
#2. Collapsible Cooking Pot
Ok, we’re big fans of collapsible kitchen accessories. Like the Stojo mug, this GSI collapsible cooking pot is another major space-saver.
Cooking pots typically take up a lot of space in a RV’s kitchen- but they also remain an important kitchen staple to have in your cabinet!
To free up more kitchen space, this non-stick cooking pot collapses down to 1.9 inches! Despite how compactly it gets, this pot can be used to cook your favorites, from pastas, soups, mac n’ cheese… you name it! Anything you’d use a regular, non-compact pot for, you can cook in this!
This is a very handy RV cooking accessory to have in your pantry!
#3. 4-in-1 Camping Utensils
The newest addition to our RV kitchen: 4-in-1 folding utensils! Built like a Swiss Army Knife, this 4-in-1 utensil kitchen accessory contains a fork, spoon, (sharp) knife, and bottle opener.
Although this set folds into a compact set, you can also detach each utensil for individual use!
We bought two of these on a whim, and they quickly became another RV favorite! They are surprisingly well-built (we assumed they’d be flimsy), and the knives are incredibly sharp (we also assumed they’d be dull). But these surprised us!
Another fun and functional aspect of these utensils is how compact they actually are: You can attach them to your key chain, or even carry them in your pocket: for camping, hiking, or even bringing to work!
#4. Camping Mug for RV Lovers
No RVer’s kitchen is complete without some homey-feeling, RV-friendly mugs. These enamel-coated, steel mugs are stronger than traditional ceramic mugs, and are not only a cool-looking addition to your kitchen, but are robust cups to pour your morning coffee!
Unlike other camping mugs we’ve used, these are superiorly-made, and come with a 12 month guarantee: If it doesn’t hold up, you can get it replaced within a year of purchase!
